Bishop England High School is a Roman Catholic coeducational secondary school operated under the auspices of the Diocese of Charleston, South Carolina. As an institution of the Catholic Church, it is the mission of Bishop England High School to foster a faith community characterized by the Gospel message of mutual respect and charity. The school endeavors to promote the spiritual, intellectual, and physical growth of the individual through the combined efforts of parents and faculty by establishing the best possible environment for learning, a climate of trust, respect of the individual, and an appreciation for the acquisition of learning.

Founded in 1915, Bishop England is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Our well qualified faculty, over half of whom possess advanced degrees, is committed to providing the best possible academic environment for our students. The program of studies at Bishop England High School is consistent with the philosophy of meeting the needs of all students. However, since 98% of Bishop England graduates pursue a college education immediately following graduation, the primary accent is on college preparatory courses.

Academic ability grouping is used at Bishop England and a solid curriculum is offered at each of the following levels:

Honors Program: This program is designed to challenge gifted students to pursue their studies in greater depth and at an accelerated pace. Intense independent study, research, analysis, and critical thinking characterize courses at this level. Students selected for the honors program must demonstrate maturity, the capacity for independent learning, and a commitment to remain at this level. Ten upper level honors courses have been designated as Advanced Placement Courses. Upon completion of these courses, students participate in the Advanced Placement examinations for college credit.

College Preparatory (Level AI): The majority of Bishop England students are placed at this level. Some independent study and a fast learning pace characterize this level. Students selected for this program are expected to accept a rigorous college preparatory course of study.

College Preparatory (Level AII): This program is designed for students who require a more guided approach to their studies. Students selected for this program are expected to accept a college preparatory course of study.

Tuition: Per child for the 2006-2007 school year: Parishioner rate is $5570.00 per year or $557.00 per month for ten months. Non-Parishioner rate is $8090.00 per year or $809.00 per month for ten months.

In the summer of 1998, Bishop England relocated its campus to a state-of-the-art facility on Daniel Island. This property is easily accessible from the Mark Clark Expressway (Hwy 526). Admission to Bishop England is non-discriminatory and is open to students from all religious backgrounds.
